We are regularly asked about the use of essential oils around and with pets. There is not a clear "yes" or "no" answer for oils. Most of the popular essential oils are very pure, which means only a couple drops can cause problems for pets. The bottom line is to use extreme caution with essential oils around animals; this includes diffusing, cleaning with, and applying oils topically to yourself or your pets. At this point, we do not recommend topical, direct administration of any essential oil to animals. It is particularly important to avoid diffusing any oils around birds.
